I have been involved in artistic endeavours as far back as I can remember. My artistic passions have taken me from creating unique one-of-a-kind clothing, quilts, dolls, woodcraft and now my focus is fine art in acrylics, watercolor and mixed media.
My journey in acrylics took root after studying under Peter John Reid and John David Anderson who taught me that a painting is about light. Since then, I continue to take classes in person and online. It goes without saying that you will find influences from all my teachers and mentors.
I have taught art to children and adults. I strongly feel that an exposure to art is crucial in developing and connecting the brain, spirit and emotion. Thus, as an elementary school teacher art spilled into my classroom and programs.
Recently I have put more emphasis into painting every day. Time behind the brush and joining Acrylic University online has taken my art to the next level. I am thankful to have a studio where I easily move between pastels, watercolour, pencil crayons and acrylics. I have recently been experimenting with absorbent ground, inks and different mediums.
I believe that art in any form helps us reawaken to the treasures we hold. The key for me is not what or how to create but rather that I do! Art allows me to overcome resistance, ignore the voice of doubt and take risks. It gives me the opportunity to connect to the past, the present and with my brushstrokes expressively create my own unique path and style.
